Her work has appeared in, among other places, Electric Literature, The Believer, Guernica, and The Best American Mystery and Suspense Award-winning author Roxane Gay hosts this book club, where we read books by underrepresented American writers, talk about those books, and, when we’re lucky, talk to the writers of those books.

Part of what makes this novel so masterful is that it does not attempt to give us simple answers to any of these questions; instead this novel tries to answer those questions in complex, unexpected and brilliantly conveyed ways. You’ll read work from writers of color, queer writers, women writers, and much more, but you will also read.
