Gay couple anime

There were some anime couples out there that represented us is different ways and had the romances that we really wanted. I remembered reading an article about the from the now long out of print Animerica Magazine and part of the article had an interview with the shows director, Kunihiko Ikuhara. I find them to be the most beautiful couple of the series rather than picking the obvious choice of Usagi and Mamoru.

Of course, I will start off with my most favorite anime, Sailor Moon. Over the years, many anime have produced many LGBTQ+ couples that fans have celebrated and enjoyed.

On initial watching, I loved the designs and could see some of the similarity in the animation. They are Zoisite and Kunzite from the first story arc to play though both the manga and the anime. Although some couples come out only at the end of their series, others last the entire series. So here are some of my favs! I loved how the show gave them their own ending song and sequence. I had initially thought that she was actually a guy who changed genders when she transformed into a Sailor Scout.

But like with Uranus and Neptune, I liked it a lot better that it was two guys together. The reason why I started watching this anime was the advertising on the box stated that the same animation team that worked on Sailor Moon had worked on this television anime. Again, knowing that Utena and Anthy were a couple in this show made me love it even more.

He made a very great point about why Utena and Anthy had become a couple, and why it was necessary. Junjou Romantica Junjou Romantica is a compilation of stories of three different couples. But of course after much researching, that turned out not to be the case. I absolutely agree with him there. He mentioned how most of the men on the show had ugly souls due to the school system in place; and how they had abused Anthy and Utena to gain power that they thought was theirs.

That said, manga and light novels have many same-sex relationships and trans representation with series like Restart After Coming Back Home or Boys Run the Riot. Gay anime has often been off licensors’ lists or didn’t explicitly show the romance between its characters.

This show boast two couples, the first one being my most favorite, Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune Hakura and Michiru. In honor of Sailor Moon Crystal getting green-lit for a fourth season, let’s go back to the sweet, terrifying.

That said, there are some awesome LGBTQ+ anime couples that serve as positive representations of their respective communities. In that aspect, he said he would rather have two beautiful girls together than put them with any of the men.
